May Reunion 2014

Saturday 10th May 2014

Please note: Because of the late Easter, the deadline for reserving places at the Old Scholars' Dinner has been put back to Wed 30th April.

Our next Annual Reunion will take place at Friends' School on Saturday 10th May 2014 and will coincide with the School's Friends and Families Day.

Our AGM will also take place on this day.

As usual we will be encouraging those who are turning 60 and 50 in this coming year to meet up ie those in the 1972 and 1982 Years Groups. Biddy Vousden (Davey) biddyvousden@friends.org.uk is co-ordinating the 1972 Year Group, and Lucy Robson (Finzi) lucyfinzi@yahoo.com has kindly agreed to help co-ordinate the 1982 Year Group. So do contact them if you are thinking of attending – we would love to get as many of you back as possible.

Invitation from the Presidents

March 2014

Dear Old Scholars,

We are writing to invite you to attend our Annual Reunion at School on Saturday 10th May 2014.

As in previous years this coincides with the School’s Friends and Families Day, and is an excellent opportunity to visit the School and also to meet up with old friends.  You are most welcome to come along at any time during the day but the Old Scholar events take place in the afternoon and evening. Please see the attached programme for the day. Our main meeting point will be the Library, although the front lawn and around the cricket pitch are also very popular, but please remember to sign in in the library and to wear the badge provided.

We respect the privacy of the boarders but if you would like to see around your old boarding areas then this will be possible at 1.45pm.  Many will wish to watch the Old Scholars v the School cricket match, and there will be refreshments in the Assembly Hall or on the front lawn at various times during the afternoon. This year there is also a chance to see around our Archives’ Room between 2 and 3pm. We would encourage as many as possible to support the AGM in the Library at 3.30pm which should last no longer than an hour.  The Reunion Dinner has been very popular in recent years, but places at £25 per head (including wine and soft drinks), need to be reserved in advance, and by Wednesday 23rd April –  see enclosed menu and order form.  Please apply early as places are limited.

We very much look forward to having as many Old Scholars back as possible and in particular those from the 1972 and 1982 year groups, ie those turning 60, and 50!  If you are in these year groups please get in touch with your old class mates and help us make it a night to remember.  See the website for more information.

Please do also read the information on our website www.oldscholars.com about recent changes to the subscription arrangements and how we can continue to support the Association and the School through donations.  Both need our continuing support.

We are hoping to launch our new website by the end of the year and would like to make greater use of the website and email to keep you informed of future events and newsletters. If you would prefer to receive hard copies then please let Stefanie Godfrey know.

We very much hope to see you at School on Saturday 10th May.

Best wishes,

Clare Thompson (Parry)
President 2013 - 2014
