History of Friends' School

"Friends' School - A Hundred Years at Saffron Walden. 1879 - 1979" by John Woods.

Originally founded in 1702 in Clerkenwell, with subsequent moves to Islington and then to Croydon, Friends' School moved to Saffron Walden in 1879.

To mark the centenary of the school being in Saffron Walden in 1979, the then Head John Woods wrote this account of the school's first 100 years in Saffron Walden, based on the records in the carefully preserved governors' minute books.

John Woods has given his permission for his 39 page booklet to be scanned and made more widely available.
